The Trust
The Cullompton Walronds Preservation Trust (CWPT) is a building preservation trust whose general objective is to preserve buildings of historic or architectural interest in the parish of Cullompton. It is one of a chain of trusts associated through the UK Association of Preservation Trusts, helped and encouraged by the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF). Members of the CWPT gathered together in 1996 and registered with Companies House (Company Number 3328420) and the Charity Commission (Charity Number 10619130 in the Spring of 1997. Mrs Jane Campbell BEM was, and still is, the founding chairman. Other founding trustees are Colonel Michael Woodcock OBE, the company secretary, Mrs Elizabeth Labdon and Mrs Elizabeth Whiteley. Trustees who have been appointed since 1997 and who are trustees today (January 2016) are Mrs Elizabeth Sessions, Mr George Maunder, Mrs Elizabeth Cole and Mrs Judy Morris.
When restoration was completed in 2014 it became necessary for the CWPT to take on the management of the upper rooms, or flat, for holiday letting. Since this would become the main source of income there was the possibility of acting beyond the memorandum and articles of the trust and therefore a new company was formed, Cullompton Walronds Ltd (Company Number 9291127). A lease from the CWPT to the CWL has been prepared to last initially for 25 years. This requires approval from the Charity Commission and this has been requested.
